2 Shun Senatorial Election Debate In Nimba

Two of the Senatorial candidates have boycotted the Senatorial debate in Ganta, Nimba County.

The Ducor Debates was held at the Ganta Methodist School’s Auditorium on April 18, 2024 and was attended by Samuel Kogar and Gobac Selekpor while Thomas Grupee and Nyan Tuayen were among those who did not show up at the debate.

Since the beginning of April 2024, the county has been engulf with political campaign messages by the all four candidates and their supporters.

The absence of Nyan Tuayen and Thomas Grupee raised concerns among the residents and some of their supporters respectively with most of those disappointed expressing that the absence of the candidates showed disrespect to the supporters as well as the very attitude they will exhibit if elected by them.

Kogar boasted that when elected, he will prioritize farm-to-market roads, quality health care delivery systems, youth empowerment, education and agriculture, among other things in the county.

On the contrary, Selekpor said when elected, he will reconcile the five tribes in Nimba while similarly he will ensure that the health, education and agriculture sectors are strengthened while making sure that scholarships are provided for the youth.

Senator Prince Y. Johnson has disclosed that he has withdrawn his support from Tuayen, a UP candidates revealing that the, “Unity party betrayed me by bringing war and economic crimes court in Liberia.”

“I am their prime suspect and target for the war crimes court therefore, I withdraw my support from Nyan Tuayen,” the Senator PYJ disclosed.
