Whynor Public School Principal, Cecelia Leakpei, has lamented the shortage of chairs, as well as text books, which is hampering the smooth running of the school in Bain-Garr Education District 2 in Nimba County.
Speaking to this paper in Whynor Town, Principal Leakpei explained that the lack of basic learning materials is making the learning process at the school difficult.
According to the principal, the school has the enrollment of 205 students, with two government teachers and two volunteer teachers.
“The lack of chairs is a serious challenge; K1 to 3rd grade students sit on the ground to write lesson notes,” Leakpei disclosed.
Echoing her concerns was Town Chief, Kotee Dolo, who expressed that the shortage of chairs at the school is worrisome and has claimed the attention of the Poro master and his members.
“Because of the situation regarding the lack of chairs, the Poro master has mandated every resident to a town hall meeting to discuss the school’s problems,” Dolo disclosed.
It remains to be seen if said meeting will do anything to change the dire situation.
