The Liberia National Police says all motorbike owners can now collect their impounded motorbikes from the Motor Vehicle Section its Captitol By-pass headquarters.
According to the announcement, requirements for repossessing those bikes that were impounded for various traffic violations include: valid rider’s license, motorbike registration, insurance documents, and with rider’s accessories which include helmet, hand glove and shoes respectively.
However, the police said all such violators will then be issued a traffic violation ticket of not less than US$ 20 to be paid into government’s revenue and receipt submitted before taking delivery of his/her motorbike.
Meanwhile, the public is also informed that restrictions on No Go Zones for commercial motorcycles and tricycles are still enforced and that the No Go Zones for commercial motorcycles includes; Beer Factory to Monrovia, GSA Road to Monrovia for those coming from Paynesville, the entire RIA Highway, Monrovia to ELWA Junction and Freeport to Monrovia.
All commercial motorcycles will be allowed to ply the Brewerville to Beer Factory, Paynesville Red-Light to Freeport ISI including its surrounding communities, Paynesville Red-Light to GSA Road intersections including its surroundings, from 540 communities, Congo Town Back Road to 72nd communities.
While the Go Zones for commercial motorcycles also include; Old Road to Catholic Hospital Communities, Matadi Estate to Jallah Town and Avenues in that location and Air Field Community to Vamoma House respectively.
According to the police, the No Go Zones for Tricycles include; Ashmun, Front, Broad, Buchanan, Center, Gurley Randall and Roberts Streets. Other restricted streets are Carey, Clay, McDonald, Warrant, Johnson Streets and Camp Johnson Road.
Meanwhile, Tricycles are allowed to ply from Brewerville to Waterside, Benson Street through UN Drive to Bassa Community and stop at the University of Liberia, Matadi Estate to Jallah Town and Mechlin Street to West Point, these regulations remain enforced.
Tricycles and Commercial Motorcycles are to ply the Go Zones beginning 6:00 AM to 10: 00PM daily and any operator caught in violation of these rules will be dealt with in line with the Vehicle and Traffic Law of Liberia.
