The Association of Bong Miners Liberia (ABML) has inducted into office new corps of officers to steer the affairs of the association for the next two years.
The induction ceremony which was held on Sunday, January 16, at the Restoration Baptist Church on the Old Road, brought together several past and present officials including members of the Association.
Those inducted are: Henry J. Carr, president; Hawa L. Dorley, vice-president; Solomon W. Chelleh, Secretary General; Miatta Z. Dongbo, Treasurer and Bendu A. Kromah, Chaplain.
Speaking to this paper following his induction, ABML newly inducted president, Henry J. Carr lauded his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him to serve them for the next two years, something he described as a big boost towards the improvement and growth of the Association.
Laying out his vision and plan, the ABML president stated that the main objective is to ensure that the ABML secures its own office space, including the promotion of women empowerment, and the strengthening of the already existing relationship between the ABML and the Association of Bong Miners in the Diaspora.
According to him, prior to his election, it was observed that the association which was founded since 2015 is yet to get office of its own and as such, his leadership will ensure that is done as means of jumpstarting the rebranding process of the ABML.
He added, “Another thing that my administration will take interest in is the issue of transparency and accountability. We will see to it that funds generated and spent are properly accounted for so that members paying their dues or other monies can know how it is expended.”
“Not to forget, the ABML under my leadership will also ensure to fully collaborate with the Bong Miners Diaspora intended to identify with our people back in the Bong Mines owing to the fact that, it was the key reason of the Association’s establishment,” he said.
Meanwhile, the ABML newly inducted president at the same time extended olive branch to past officials and members to join and support his leadership in moving the Association forward.
“Let me also use this medium to appeal to my past colleagues, to see reason and join us in seeking and working in the interest of our noble Association. I also want to openly apologize to any of you that we may have wronged knowingly or unknowingly,” president Carr averred.
The Association of Bong Miners is a nonpolitical and not for profit organization that was established on November 29, 1998 by Mr. Paul B. Samuels (Deceased) and few others who saw the need to continually unite and work together in helping to shape or develop the lives of their brethren and the needy in spite of their religious, social or economic status.
The organization’s membership is opened to all who may have lived, worked, visited, attended schools or had some form of relationship to one living within the Bong Mines range.
