Youth Group To End Spelling Bee Contest In Monrovia

A youth group under the banner, Meek Youth Organization (MeYO), situated in district 8 Montserrado County is set to climax the first edition of its year end spelling bee competition among five schools in the city of Monrovia.

The competition is accordingly intended to have the participating schools reviewing their educational strength through the academic competition and showcase the talents of the contestants so as to give them intellectual exposal for greater opportunities.


Speaking yesterday, the president of the organization in James k. Yallah said the academic year end spelling bee for the first time in Monrovia will be coming to an end on Friday July 7, 2023 with the grand finale.


According to Yallah, the competition started on June 21, 2023 with the preliminary rounds where 28 contestants were stage to compete against each other spelling words presented to them as a means to expand their thinking capacity.


He said, all through the competition the students participating have demonstrated high level of academic excellence that is convincingly clear that the educational system of the country is gradually developing by the day.


The youth leader added that the competition is a priority of his organization in making sure that the young people of the country are empowered through education.
Presenting the finalist of the event Yallah said, ten students from the five schools qualified to meet at the Pioneer Baptist Church to further defend who becomes the champion of the first edition of Spelling.
St. Simon Baptist School System, Susan Brooks Memorial AME School, George and Logan High School, Pioneer Baptist School System and the Nazarene Renaissance Christian Kids College are the schools represented in the final.


James Yallah called on the student’s community to join the youth group to support their quest for educational reforms by attending the event. He said the final will be open to all students across the Monrovia that have interest in intellectual and capacity building.
