Youngster James Morris Surfaces In Margibi County Provisional Squad

The head coach of Margibi County football team for the 2023/2024 National County Sports Meet, Warmann Yeafapolee Gotavator, has named his provisional squad as the Gibi Boys of Margibi County prepare for the upcoming event.

The selection of the provisional squad, made up of 20 third division players, was done through a pronouncement on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the open-air Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata, after spectators stormed the county’s practice session in demand of the listing of the county players.

Among those called by the Margibi County tactician is one of the most anticipated and talked about youth goalkeepers in the county, James Morris of Club of the Africa Sports Association I club based in upper Margibi County.

His surprise inclusion in the county’s provisional squad was due to his splendid performance since the commencement of the justification of the football team of Margibi County.

James Morris made his first appearance on November 29, at the county stadium in Kakata during their one-all-draw test match with Rivercess County.

His first start was at home again, in a return leg against Bong County, where he played 78th minutes, with Margibi County defeating Bong County 1-0.

Morris’s brilliant form during the just ended 2022/2023 LFA- Margibi Upper-Margibi Sub-committee Third Division league earned his club, Africa Sports Academy (ASA), their first ever domestic league trophy, and moreover, he was a key factor of his club clinching the Championship in Margibi County.

The youngster will forever be remembered in the history of Africa Sports Academy, as he was part of the club’s first ever National Third Division Regional and Promotional Playoffs in Montserrado County.

Morris started his goalkeeping during his early childhood days, when he once won the best goalkeeper award for his club in a tournament organized by the Liberia Football Association (LFA).

In terms of silverware, he won three District League trophies in Margibi County, where he features for District 3.

Others called up include youngster, Johnathan Glaydor (Prosper FC); Dekagai Suah, Rufus Moses, and Eric Yancy (FC Quincy); Moses Korbah, Chris Harmon, Gana Kana Karmounogu, Archibald Dwayou, and Timothy Flomo (Africa Sports Academy), Snowee Wegge and Bill Harmon (Weintown United Football Club); Otis Suah, Andrew Dennis, and Emmanuel Saye (One Goal Football Academy).

Others include, Moses Yallah David (SATARA FC), Patrick Daygbay (Congress FC), and Marvin Sumo (Pepper FC)

Margibi County is in Group D with two other counties, namely Grand Bassa and Lofa.

Margibi County rubs shoulders with Grand Bassa County in both kickball and football on Sunday, December 17, at the open-air Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata, Margibi County, to kick-start this year’s edition of the National County Sports Meet.

Margibi County’s next match is against Lofa County on Wednesday, December 20, at the same venue in their final group stage game in both kickball and football of the tournament.

The long serving Margibi County tactician, Coach Warma, is expected to announce his full 25-man squad soon, before the start of the December 16, 2023 National County Sports Meet.
