A 53-year old woman identified as Victoria Clark is appealing to the Vice President, Jewel Howard-Taylor, for justice in the death of her son.According to reports, Madam Clark’s son died as a result of allegedly consuming caustics soda provided by his friend in Nimba County.
Madam Clark explained that the boy invited her son, Kolun Zuu, to eat with him in Gblor Kweepea Town and while they were eating together his friend went in the room and intentionally took some caustics soda and put it in the cup thereby presenting it to him as water.
Madam Clark emphasized that even though the boy is usually seen among the ‘crazy’ boys that lived in that town, it was the caustics soda his mother used to fix washing soap that he allegedly give to her son therefore that was the reason his mother was charged with negligence by the police and sentenced for one year in Sanniquellie.
However, the police have charged the boy with criminal attempt to commit murder but it is rumored that the County Attorney does not want to prosecute the young man that allegedly committed the act.
As the case was ongoing, the victim died at the hospital in Monrovia while the suspect has been charged with criminal attempt to commit murder and is awaiting trial.
Madam Clark added the case was transferred to the 8th Judiciary Circuit in Sanniquellie for trial and that the suspect’s mother was guilty for the crime and sentenced for one year in prison for negligence but the boy who intentionally gave the caustics soda to her son was not prosecuted for the crime.
Madam Clark , narrated the boy lied to police in Tappita that he 15 years during preliminary investigation and that document from his principal addressed to the court show 18 years which copy is in my procession , she said.
“My son was 25 years old before he died but the young man who killed him with caustic is passing around with impunity,” she lamented.
Madam Clark pointed accusing finger at County Attorney, Hector Gwequoi, for not showing any interest to prosecute the boy despite after several appeals to him.
County Attorney Gwequoi admitted to prosecuting the case and added that with the 45 prisoners from Gbarnga, the case is before him and promised to include Madam Clark’s case on the November term docket.
