Nimba County District 1 was thrown into commotion and weeping on Thursday, November 23, 2023, as the body of a woman was found in a pool of blood.

The victim was discovered during the afternoon hours by two little children in Pledehyee Town, Electoral District 1, while on their way to the farm.

Speaking to the LNP in Ganta, the father of the children, DEO Abel Legay, explained that he was informed by his children about an unidentified woman found dead in a pool of blood.

According to DEO Legay, the children saw two men running from the direction where the body was found.

CSD Preston Gunpue, when contacted, disclosed the arrest of three suspects in connection of the death of the victim, undergoing Police investigations in the county.

Police named Ledin Yesia, 45; Samson Dolo, 25; and Lawrence Gono, 36; as suspects undergoing investigation.

“The three suspects were accused by the relative after a phone call to the victim prior to her death at that rubber farm,” the senior Police officer revealed.

“A long rope and slippers were found beside the victim on the crime scene,” Police investigators disclosed.

“The body of the woman has been deposited at the Gompa funeral home, pending investigations,” CSD revealed.

This is the second mysterious death in less than a year in District 1 along the Ganta belt, which is a cause for concern for the residents in the district. In early 2023, a woman was found Dead in F2 Guest House in Ganta, around the Pearson Community, tied with a rope and lying in pool of blood.

Police also disclosed that the three suspects were hooked by residents of the area while on the run to unknown destinations.

According to Police, the victim has been identified as Alice Nyan, commonly known as Kou, a 26-year-old mother of three, with preliminary investigations revealing that the victim was allegedly killed with a yet to be identified sharp object, and her neck was broken, with a deep cut on her mouth.

“The three suspects were arrested and turned over to the Police, but because of the angry crowd threatening to burn down the police station in demand of mob justice, we immediately transferred the suspects to another location, undergoing an investigation,” CSD investigators added.
