‘Withhold The Interest of Liberia’ Rev. Doely Challenges Media; As Inquirer Observes 29 Anniversary

The House of Testimony (CHRIDA), located in Paynesville City is urging the media to do all in its might to withhold the interest of Liberia as it strives to disseminate information towards maintaining peace and stability.In his charge to the Inquirer team, who were acknowledged as special guests in the service yesterday, Rev. Edwin Doely told the management of the media institution to ensure that the interest of the country is kept at all times and that can be done by the way they inform the society.
Delivering the sermon at the church with members of the Inquirer in attendance which is part of their tradition each year in celebration of thanksgiving to God for the paper’s existence, Elder Charles Bropleh hailed the institution for the level of contributions to the Republic.
Speaking from the Book of Habakkuk 2:1-3 with focus on: Vision, the preacher said, Mr. Wesseh is where he is today because of his ‘vision’ of becoming a professional media manager in Liberia.
Elder Bropleh also thanked the Managing Editor, Philip N. Wesseh, for keeping his own vision alive since 1979 during their days in the D. Tweh High School when he (Philip) was one of the lead contributors to the school’s press corps.
Using Mr. Wesseh’s determination to becoming a veteran journalist as a vision he pursued to date, the preacher urged Liberians to emulate this great journalist’s passion which is dated back to high school days and that today he is celebrating 29 years of ownership of one of Liberia’s best media institutions for its balanced reportage.
“This happened because of his vision to be a media professional” he stated and asked that all Liberians muster the audacity to support the media if Liberia is to have more independent media institutions.
In his expression of gratitude, Atty. Wesseh thanked the church for accepting members of the institution to be a part of the church’s congregation and gave the background of the establishment of the newspaper.
He said the Inquirer Newspaper exists not because of its strength or might but by the mercy of God and therefore called on the church to pray for Liberia because it is in a state of uncertainty.
Mr. Wesseh told the church that some of the things that are happening now are only by the intervention of God and stressed that the country is running into confidence crisis citing instances such as when people are saving with banks yet cannot get their monies when they want to; and the instability of the US rate coupled with so many other issues.
The veteran media managing editor said a leader must not listen to everything and he/she must understand that tolerance is important in governance while at the same time, reminding the congregation that certain people can never be wrong.
“Let us pray for our country continuously so that we all can have a beautiful country because wherever we are it is because of God. So let us pray for our country, Liberia,” he concluded.
