Land Sale, But…

By Precious D. Freeman
The Administrators of the Jallah Barkon and the Jarblon Gbee Intestate Estate are accusing the Brewerville City Chairman, Soko Dorley Wiles of illegal sale of land.
Addressing the press yesterday, the chairman on land matters, Thomas K.G Shaw, alleged that over the years, Mr. Wiles has been using his position in the CDC led-government to intimidate and harass people who have purchased parcels of land from their estates.
According to him, having taken the matter to the Civil Law Court at the Temple of Justice, Mr. Wiles has repeatedly refused to appear in court with documents to substantiate his claim of ownership of the portion of the Kpallah and Gborken people’s property.
Mr. Shaw further alleged that Wiles has been moving around their land with thugs carrying deadly weapons including cutlasses and other harmful objects threatening to scare, harm and kill anyone who ventures on the land for development purposes.
“The CDC mobilization chairman continues to criminally sell land belonging to both estates despite not having legal rights to do so in the absence of legitimate ownership of the properties,” he claimed.
“We the Dey people of Kpallah and Gborken communities, request from President Weah that while the case is in court, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) suspends Mr. Wiles until all matters concerning his involvement with the land are resolved.
The chairman on land matters is requesting that CDC through its Executive Committee and National Chairman, Mulbah K. Morlu to suspend Wiles as chairman for recruitment and mobilizations until all issues surrounding his involvement in the illegal sale of land are settled.
He urged all illegal buyers of the Kapllah and Gborken people’s land under the stewardship of Mr. Wiles to stop immediately or face consequences through uncompromising legal means.
He added that all efforts to have Mr. Wiles submit to the Civil Law Court and prepare for an investigative survey has proved fruitile.
Meanwhile, they are reminding the Government and people of Liberia to step into the case and promise to resist all forms of intimidation and life threats from Mr. Wiles.
For his part, the Brewerville City Council Chairman, Mr. Soko Dorley Wiles mentioned that the allegation levied against him is false and misleading and has no iota of truth.
According to him, the land his grandfather left with them is one thousand and two acres and he is the administrator.
He added that since 2018 when the misunderstanding started, he had been working together with these accusers in order to survey the land.
He emphasized that during the past regime when they all took the case to the Temple of Justice, all the lands were surveyed and he had his deed and map.
Chairman Wiles explained that after some time the accusers came up with these same issues again and he went back to the Temple of Justice to file in their complaints, and on his arrival he was asked to produce his deed and map which he did, adding that his accusers were not able to produce theirs and they claimed that they misplaced it.
He intoned that he is financially prepared to go to court on the issue of the alleged illegal sale of land.
