Whapoe Gets Nimbaians’ Backing

By Solomon T. Gaye
Nimba County’s chiefs, women and youth groupings, partisans, sympathizers, and students last weekend petitioned Dr. Jeremiah Z. Whapoe to contest for the pending 2023 Presidential and Representatives Elections in Ganta, Nimba County.
The petition read by Jenkens Duo, outlined government’s alleged failure to fight corruption, strengthen the health and education sectors; poverty among others that triggered the petitioning of Whapoe to contest the pending Presidential and Representative’s elections later this year.
According to our correspondent, Whapoe’s petitioning ceremony was held at the Ganta United Methodist School campus under the watchful eyes of all the groupings invited from the nine electoral districts respectively.
Whapoe, standard bearer of the Vision for Liberia Transformation (VOLT) party hails from Buu-yao in Electoral District 5, Nimba County.
Since the beginning of 2023, Whapoe of Buu-yao; Tiawan Gongloe of Yarwin Mehnsonon of Electoral District 9; Jeremiah Koung of Gbain Garr of Electoral District 1; and George Gonpu have openly expressed interest to battle with the governing CDC, while Whapoe is believed to be developmental-oriental, nationalistic, God fearing and the best among those seeking for the presidency in the country.
However, speaking on behalf of the chiefs and elders of Buu-yao in district 5, Chairman Moses Vah called on the residents to shine their eyes during the election to support Whapoe for their dream to come true as winner of the election.
Nimba has nine electoral districts and residents will be choosing among four sons; Whapoe, Gongloe, Koung and Gonpu in the pending Presidential and Representatives Elections come October of this year.
In a short comment, Whapoe thanked the organizers of the petitioning program among the thousands to contest for the presidency and accepted the petition on ground that it was done in good faith.
“The statement in the petition that, we are tired of suffering means Liberians need a leader who cares for its people’s needs,” Whapoe acknowledged.
The Vision for the Liberia Transformation (VOLT’s) Standard Bearer, Whapoe allegedly disclosed that some political parties’ standard bearers are begging him to serve as a running mate, a request he has rejected.
