Several residents in Panta District 4, Bong County have shown their massive support for the reelection of President George M. Weah in the upcoming October 10, 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections.
The enthusiastic response from the citizens also demonstrated their commitment to standing with a group dubbed “Bong for Weah” in campaigning and ensuring the President’s second term in office.
Led by Deputy Finance Minister, Augustus J. Flomo, Chairperson of ‘Bong for Weah’ 2023 and a native of Bellemu Town in Panta District, the team upon arrival received a warm welcome from the residents.
The presence of their hometown hero, who now works closely with the President, brought joy to the community, as they recognized his efforts in bringing positive change and development to their lives.
During the program yesterday, Deputy Minister Flomo highlighted several significant developments and initiatives undertaken by the government, particularly in Panta District and Bong County as a whole.
These achievements, Minister Flomo said affected various sectors, including strategic agriculture development, road projects, educational support programs, and improvements in the health system.
In terms of agriculture, the Minister narrated that the government has implemented initiatives aimed at promoting agricultural productivity and food security in Bong County.
He explained, “And through these efforts, farmers have received training, access to modern farming techniques, and the provision of quality seeds and fertilizers.”
“These initiatives have included tangible investments for value addition to farmers’ groups, such as the MeniNina Farmers in Bellemu Town, Panta District. These measures have not only boosted agricultural yields but have also improved the livelihoods of many farming families in the county,” he said.
According to him, the administration of President Weah has also prioritized infrastructure development, with a particular focus on road projects which include the upgrading and construction of new roads, which he said have enhanced connectivity within the county, thus facilitating the movement of goods and people and promoting economic growth.
He also pointed out that the improved road network has also made it easier for farmers to transport their produce to markets, resulting in increased trade and income generation opportunities.
Minister Flomo bragged that it has been another crucial area of focus for the government, as evidenced by the rebranding of the country’s education system through its supported programs.
He said, “The government has taken steps to alleviate the financial burden on parents by covering the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees for students.
This initiative has ensured that more students in Bong County have access to quality education, increasing their chances of pursuing higher education and securing better career prospects.
The government has made public university education available to parents at no tuition cost. This groundbreaking policy has opened doors for many deserving students who were previously unable to afford tertiary education,” he maintained.
The Deputy Finance Minister asserted, “By investing in the education of the youth, the government aims to build a skilled workforce and empower the next generation to contribute to Liberia’s development.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Flomo has also said the health system in Bong County has also experienced positive changes under President Weah’s leadership.
He added that, “The government has increased the salaries of doctors, recognizing their crucial role in providing quality healthcare services to the citizens.”
“This move has not only improved the welfare of medical professionals but has also contributed to better healthcare outcomes for the residents of the County and these are the many reasons for us to reelect President Weah,” Flomo averred.
In response, residents of Panta District confirmed their unwavering support for President Weah and at the same time pledged to continue standing with the ‘Bong for Weah campaign.’
The citizens also expressed their desire to make Bong County a stronghold of support for the President’s re-election in the October 2023 general Elections.
