President George Manneh Weah along with his entourage is expected to return to Liberia today following two days of visit to Accra-Ghana to discuss issues focusing on peace-talks in two African countries. .
The Liberian leader on July 1, 2022 departed the country to attend an Extraordinary ECOWAS Ordinary Summit held in Ghana which brought together ECOWAS heads.
President Weah was convoyed by scores of officials including, Minister of Defense, Daniel Ziahkahn, Information Minister, Ledgerhood Rennie, Liberia’s Maritime Commissioner, Lenn Eugene Nagbe, the Executive Director of the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) Pepci Quiwu Yeke, the Economy Advisor to the President, Emmanuel Shaw, among others. The president and his team are expected to return at the Roberts International Airport today, in Margibi county.
According to a hint from the Executive Mansion, the Extraordinary Summit which was chaired by President Nana Akufor Addo was intended to discuss ongoing political predicament in Mali and neighboring Guinea amongst other burning issues affecting the sub-region.
The Submit also focused on ways and means to find lasting solutions to the ongoing quagmire including instituting policy that would avoid future reoccurrence.
President Weah has indicated frequently in ECOWAS’ discussions that he will promote discussions that are intended to sustain lasting peace in Africa. He has always told his counterparts that without sustainable peace, there would be no sustained development in Africa. He has urged his colleagues to promote peace and development in Africa.
