Weah Gets Rousing
Welcome Home

President George Weah returns home with a rousing welcome amidst the wet weather from the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The Liberian leader was received by thousands after delivering what his supporters and partisans considered a splendid and historic.
Thousands lined up at the RIA to receive the Liberian leader and CDCians as well residents converged from walks of life within Montserrado County at the RIA to receive their leader.
Residents, most of who were partisans of District 6 who were advised not to travel to RIA lined up from his Rehab Junction residence while all Kehkeh riders assembled at Boys Town Junction to give the Liberian leader a rousing welcome.
Meanwhile, President Weah expressed gratitude upon his return home along with his entourage following what he termed as a very successful trip to the 77th UN General Assembly in New York.
He reported that at the meeting, Liberia’s progress made over the years and the challenges that are being tackled by his government were highlighted and how the country’s position on pressing global matters was outlined.
“I want to thank all Liberians for the enormous support accorded my delegation. It is always an honor representing the country at international gatherings, particularly at the United Nations, where I hold with great respect, the public trust to make Liberia’s case,” he said.
He expressed, “But I would be remiss not to particularly thank Liberians in the U.S – the leadership and members of Liberian organizations; the leadership and members of the CDC, friends, and well-wishers who turned out in their numbers to render their utmost approval.”
“I am also grateful to all my compatriots back home and around the world who kept us in their prayers and wished the delegation well. It’s good to be home and getting back to the tasks at hand,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, among other things, Liberia and the Republic of Tajikistan, have signed a joint communiqué establishing formal diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The communiqué was guided by the principles of the United Nations Charter relating to the promotion of international peace and security, the respect of national sovereignty, equality among states, independence, territorial integrity, international treaties and non-interference in the internal affairs, and the desire by both countries to promote mutual understanding and strengthen friendship and cooperation.
Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr. signed on behalf of the Government of Liberia while the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin signed on behalf of his country.
Speaking after the signing ceremony held on Wednesday, September 22, 2022, Minister Kemayah described the establishment of bilateral relations as a significant step that will lead to cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels for the mutual benefit of the Government and people of both countries.
“This signing ceremony was based on our shared values and principles on not just issues at the bilateral and multilateral levels but based on our common interest of working towards the mutual benefits of our two countries and peoples,” Kemayah said.
The Foreign Minister then called for the establishment of a Joint Commission to identify and work on initiatives where both countries can enhance collaboration.
Minister Kemayah, on behalf of President George Manneh Weah, congratulated Tajikistan for the milestone achievement in establishing diplomatic relations and looks forward to further cementing the relations.
For his part, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Muhriddin, said the signing ceremony was a historic day for his country and has opened a new page in cooperation with the Republic of Liberia.
He assured that his country will build on the existing good relations with the Republic of Liberia to identify joint initiatives to implement and support at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
The Republic of Tajikistan is a country in Central Asia with a population of over 9 million people and is known for its rugged mountains, popular for hiking and climbing.
