We Remnant Donates to YPEP, ELWA Hospital

The We Remnant organization has donated several items, including medical supplies, to the Young Parents Empowering Program and the ELWA Hospital in Liberia. organizations for their respective target clients. The organization, which is based in the United States, donated several baby clothing items to the YPEP and medical supplies, including crutches, clinical tooth brushes and hospital blankets, to the ELWA Hospital to be used by the both organizations for their respective target clients.
The donations were made possible through an arrangement by Shepherd’s Heartbeat, a sponsor organization of the YPEP.
The donations were presented yesterday( Tuesday, August 13), during a ceremony marking the One Year Anniversary of the YPEP, which is being operated by the Social Work Department of the ELWA Hospital. The YPEP comprises teen mothers and pregnant teens who are recruited by the Department, while they are patients at the Hospital. Participants of the YPEP undergo a one-year training program, covering several reproductive health, family planning, healthy relationship, trauma healing, domestic violence and community reintegration, including vocational and formal education training.
Making the presentation on behalf of the We Remnant, Prof. Sam Togba Slewion, Country Representative of the Shepherd’s Heartbeat, said We Remnant is presently partnering with Shepherd’s Heartbeat to support vulnerable social groups in Liberia through orphanages, hospitals and organization like the YPEP.
He told the audience that so far the group has allocated medical supplies for the Esther Robertson Clinic in Brewerville to cater to enable the hospital to cater to vulnerable children residing at the House of Refuge and other vulnerable people in the area. Prof. Slewion is also coordinating the donations to the hospital and the House of Refuge.
The donations to the ELWA Hospital was received by Jason Troxell, CEO of the ELWA Hospital, while the donation to the YPEP was received by Annette Toegbaye, Coordinator of the YPEP. Both of them expressed appreciation to the We Remnant organization for the donations.
Earlier addressing the event, Joni Bryker, the Country Representative of the Samirantan Purse, admonished the teen mothers and pregnant teens of the YPEP to not give up in life as a result of their first pregnancies, adding, “ you hold your future in your hands and you can still succeed in life.”
During the event, several organizations and individuals were presented honored for their support to the YPEP, while some members of the YPEP were honored for more commitment and dedication to their program.
