“We Are Proud Of You!!!” … Asst. Min. Dukuly Congratulates Graduates

Assistant Minister for TVET at the Ministry of Education, Saku Dukuly has lauded recent graduates of the GIZ, ALCC advanced Road Maintenance Program at the Boker Washington Institute-BWI in Kakata, Margibi County.
Serving as Keynote Speaker, Minister Dukuly thanked the graduates for their patience exerted throughout the six months of intense training and for the passions they carried individually as engineers. “To you the graduates of this program, you are considered the trail blazers to usher in a new wave of skilled workers in the transport sector,” Minister Dukuly stated.
“This Government is moving towards massive infrastructural development with particular emphasis on the construction of major highways across the country, which will create huge potentials for employment of people with the relevant skills. You are now positioned to lead the process of preparing young Liberians for the tasks ahead; we look forward to you to play your role well,” Asst. Min. Dukuly stated.
Asst. Dukuly further thanked the GIZ and the Swedish Government through its Embassy accredited near Monrovia for their continuous support to both the private and public sectors of the country of the country in the areas of manpower development and capacity building.
“Let me assure GIZ and the Embassy of Sweden that, the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Education is ever ready to provide you the necessary cooperation and support in your endeavor to help improve Technical Vocation Training for employment in Liberia,” Asst. Minister Dukuly stated.
For her part, Wanda Moennig of GIZ lauded the Liberian Government for the level of cordiality it had had over the years. She further stated that GIZ was still committed to working with the Liberian people in whatever way possible.
Due to the 14 year of civil war in Liberia, and the lack of maintenance and construction activities, Liberia’s transport infrastructure has been severely damaged, and less than 10% of the country’s roads are paved, while major parts of the country cannot be reached during the rainy season and more than half of the population is not connected to the road network.
Meanwhile, several of those who attended the program on Wednesday hailed GIZ the Swedish Government supporting the Trainers of Trainers Workshop. The Principal of the Boker Washington Institute, Mr. Fomba Tarnue said, BWI was overwhelmed with the level of support those graduates received over the six months of training. He lauded GIZ, the Swedish Embassy and the Liberian Government for the collaboration which he said yielded success as a result of two of his staffs graduating from the training.
The Vice President of the Association of Liberian Construction Contractors-ALCC, Burteh Freeman called on all Liberians to imposed trust in Liberian Construction Companies. According to him, by during so, it will yield the best results as Liberians will be empowered and will also provide jobs for jobless citizens.
Freeman further thanked the Liberian Government and its International partners, including GIZ, the Swedish Embassy for their partnership which had seen about eight persons undergone an intensive trainers of trainers training in road transport sector.
The lead trainer William Zayzay practically explained some of the technical aspects of the training and lauded GIZ, the Swedish Embassy and ALCC for the support given them to complete the training.
The eight persons who graduated were, Alphonso Kowah, Honest N. Cammue, Abraham K. Fahnbulleh, Beyan A. Sirleaf, G. Patrick Tornkollie, Moses Kollie and the only female on the training, Deborah Kolleh.
