After a 4-0 drubbing of Orange First Divisions Champions, LISCR, high flying former champions, Watanga, are poised to lock horns with the 2022/2023 Runners-up of the Liberia National League, Bea Mountain.
The Antoinette Tubman Stadium, known as the Examination Hall of Liberian football in Monrovia, is set to witness one of the most anticipated matches on today Tuesday, September 28, 2023.
Watanga and Bea Mountain, being major contenders of the top league, are both headed to a match that could lift the winner to an upper position on the league table. A draw most likely would drop the position of the two sides, depending on the results of other teams in the race.
Bea Mountain were last defeated by LISCR, while Watanga were too hot to handle for the ‘Shipping Boys’ of LISCR, in a 4-0 showpiece.
With a speedy first half hat trick scored by youngster, Emmanuel Sieh, on Friday September 22, 2023, and a goal from Chauncey Freeman, also in the first half of that match, Watanga secured bragging rights over the champions.
The former champions are second on the table with seven points from their three league matches played so far. The pride of Grand Cape Mount County, Bea Mountain, are seated in eighth place, with four points collected, after winning, losing, and drawing each of their last three league games.
Heaven Eleven, topping the charts with three wins and nine points, will meet Paynesville Football Club at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Practice Pitch during the afternoon hours. With heavy winning speed demonstrated in recent times by Heaven Eleven, they are widely regarded as the most favorite to beat the Big Spending New Boys of Paynesville.
The newly promoted side seem to be struggling to adapt to the first division, still yet to win a match after playing three games this season. They are in ninth place with two draws and one loss, while their opponents for today’s match, Heaven Eleven, are yet to lose this season.
Sunshine Yellow Boys, Invincible Eleven, take on LPRC Oilers at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia. The Oilers will seek to extend their unbeaten run, looking for their second straight win, as Invincible Eleven will be looking to secure a first win, after two draws and a loss to the league leaders.
Freeport and FC Kallon-Liberia will battle at the Tusa Field in Gardnersville. Freeport are still searching for a win as they go to their fourth fixture of the league season.
