WASH Commission, Partners Outline ARREST Agenda Support

The National WASH Commission held its inaugural sector meeting under the ARREST agenda, marking a significant step towards enhancing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives in Liberia.
Key objectives of the meeting included building consensus on water sector issues, reviewing and tracking performance, joint planning and implementation of programs, and advocating for necessary support.
The collaborative atmosphere set the stage for robust discussions on the way forward for Liberia’s WASH sector.
A major highlight of the meeting was an announcement by CEO George Yarngo regarding the formation of a new working group dedicated to revising the WASH roadmap and sanitation policies and this initiative, endorsed by all sector members, aims to ensure more effective and cohesive strategies moving forward.
In a bid to enhance the efficiency of future meetings, Yarngo announced a shift in the schedule: sector meetings will now be held at 10:00 AM on the second Thursday of every month and this change is intended to foster more productive discussions and strategic planning rather than merely reporting on activities.
A notable innovation introduced at the meeting was the “Four W” template, a new tool designed to gather comprehensive information and facilitate its dissemination among all sector members. This template is expected to streamline communication and ensure that all partners are well-informed and coordinated in their efforts.
During the meeting, key WASH partners provided updates on their ongoing projects, sharing insights into their efforts to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene across Liberia.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all sector members to work collaboratively, promising substantial improvements in the WASH sector and significant benefits for communities across Liberia. As the ARREST agenda gains momentum, the collaborative spirit and strategic focus of the WASH sector are set to drive inclusive development and sustainable progress.
