Black Man Warrior Football Club on yesterday, Monday, February 13, 2024, won their first outstanding match, considered as the ‘battle of the top’ against Shaita Football Club to move a point clear over the National Second Division League table.
They are seated on the first spot of the table with 39 points and will have a remaining fixture against Life Football Club that will take place at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium next Monday, February 20, 2024.
In a four-goal thriller at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia, the Warriors scored twice in the first half for a 2-0 lead at half time. They conceded once in the second half and later scored to trash the hopes of their opponents who needed a draw from the beginning of the match to top the table.
At 24 and 27 minutes in the first half, Kenderick Williams and Francis Doe scored for the Warriors. Larry Siemon came through for the visitors at the start of the second half with a 46th-minute goal. At the end of the seven minutes of added time, Emmanuel Wright scored to earn 3-1 victory for Black Man Warrior.
Ahead of the upcoming week’s fixtures, Shaita remains in third place with 38 points, level with Gardnersville in the second place. Junior Professionals and Sinoe National Port Authority were pushed to the fourth and fifth spots following the fulltime results of the match between Shaita and the Warriors.
The transition of Black Man Warrior from fourth to first place only shifted the arrangement of teams on the league at the upper level, with no impact on the teams at the bottom that are currently battling relegation.
Nimba United, Philadelphia Lone Star, and Margibi Football Clubs, will continue their fight for survival from the bottom, as each of them needs a win per week to find a better and safe spot leading to the end of the league season.
