VP Koung Affirms Commitment To Girls Empowerment Globally

Vice President Jeremiah Koung, has expressed strong support for empowering girls in line with the 2024 theme for the International Day of the Girl Child: “Girls’ Vision for the Future.”
This day, declared by the United Nations, underscores opportunities for girls and the continuing challenge of gender inequality.
VP Koung, a father of four daughters, stressed the significance of empowering young women to drive societal progress.
“As a father, I understand the crucial role of empowering young women in shaping our future”, he said.
He also highlighted the Unity Party-led government’s initiatives focused on youth development, particularly young women.
A major initiative is a comprehensive training program aimed at equipping 10,000 youth primarily girls with critical technology skills.
“We want our young women to not only be participants but also leaders in tomorrow’s technological advancements”, he remarked.
VP Koung also urged young women to prioritize their education, emphasizing that it is key to future success.
His remarks came during an October 14, 2024, meeting with female high school students from Cyber-Ed Christian School of Excellence, who interviewed him on important issues affecting girls.
The students raised thoughtful questions about government’s efforts to promote children’s rights and improve their quality of life, covering topics such as access to education, healthcare, and protection against violence and exploitation.
Madam Soni Karnga-Williams, the school’s Founder and Executive Director, thanked the Vice President for addressing these critical issues and raising awareness about the importance of education, health, and safety for girls.
