UP Condemns ‘Unauthorized’ Use Of Boakai’s Image

The governing Unity Party (UP) has raised strong objections to the growing misuse of President Joseph Boakai’s image on various items, including billboards, coffee mugs, clothing, trophies, posters, and other paraphernalia.
The Party described these acts as inappropriate and a direct contradiction to the principles of humility, integrity, and service-driven governance espoused by the Boakai administration.
According to the Party, such actions undermine the core values of the administration and shift focus away from pressing national priorities.
In a press release, the Unity Party said that President Boakai does not condone the use of his portrait to signify loyalty, gratitude, or personal allegiance.
The Party warned that such practices resemble the sycophantic glorification that plagued past administrations, fostering a culture of adulation and excess that Liberia is working to leave behind.
“The Presidency is not a tool for personal glorification, nor should it be used to build a culture of undue hero-worship,” the release read. “President Boakai’s leadership is rooted in national service, not self-aggrandizement.”
The Unity Party has called on Liberians, especially public officials and government institutions to refrain from unauthorized displays of the President’s image.
To maintain professionalism and dignity in governance, the Party has recommended that the President’s image be reserved exclusively for official state functions and initiatives sanctioned by the Government of Liberia adding, that such events may include state visits, engagements with foreign dignitaries, and programs aligned with the nation’s development goals.
Without naming specific individuals or institutions, the Unity Party issued a stern warning to those engaging in these practices to desist immediately.

The Party emphasized that any repeat offenses would be met with public condemnation and potential disciplinary actions.
As Liberia approaches the conclusion of President Boakai’s first year in office, the Unity Party urged all Liberians, including partisans and allies, to remain focused on supporting the administration’s developmental agenda.

The Party reaffirmed its commitment to steering the nation toward lasting progress and prosperity.
“Liberia is at a pivotal moment in its history, and the Unity Party will not tolerate actions that detract from the government’s mission to uplift every citizen and strengthen national institutions,” the statement concluded.
This bold stance by the Unity Party underscores its determination to ensure that governance under President Boakai remains transparent, people-centered, and free from the pitfalls of the past.
