Bong County Senator Prince Moye has expressed concerns about the persistent actions of some individuals in the county to criticize everything, even issues that are pertinent to the growth and development of the county.
Senator Moye made reference to Nimba’s recent County Council sitting, where he was invited. Senator Moye, making comparisons said, the proceeding by Senator Nya Twayen and several Representatives, was never politicized by the people of Nimba County because politicians attended the county’s council sessions.
Contrary, Senator Moye pointed out, that had that been in his own County, Bong it would have been heavily politicized.
Senator Moye emphasized that the recent Nimba Council Sitting, which was witnessed by him, saw the approval of about US$4.2 million to renovate several deplorable public facilities in the county, which did not result in any political controversies or political influence.
According to him, every day, residents of Bong County envy Nimba County for its progressive developments.
However, when Bong County’s local leadership, headed by Superintendent Loleyah Hawa Norris, makes decisions to restore infrastructure, which is the face of the county, these same residents will describe it as a waste of money, even though they are the ones who will, in turn, praise Nimba for its developments and beauty.
“Go to Ganta is it the forest that is making it beautiful? Is it the abandoned buildings that are being used by less fortunate youths as hideouts that are making Nimba beautiful? No, it’s the structures. But how did they happen? It happened based on hard decisions,” Senator Moye pondered.
“Yesterday, the County Superintendent’s compound became the talk of the day because it was used as a hideout and dumpsite, but when a decision was made to fix it some people said it was not important, so we won’t be able to satisfy everybody.”
Meanwhile, amidst all these political controversies in the county, Senator Moye said he and other members of the Boakai administration would not be deterred from development initiatives and they would stand by those who are prioritizing the developmental interests of the county.
He called on residents of the county to avoid unnecessary criticism that aims to tie the progress of the county.
The newly honored Bong County political “godfather” rallied members of the county council to brace for the storm, look beyond all the different discussions, and be firmed in their decision-making regarding the county’s development.
He added that, as chair of the county caucus, he will ensure that he and his caucus members continue to support the positive actions of the county council as long as they are in the right direction to develop the county and the value for money is realized in those different transactions.
Senator Moye was speaking when he served as a guest speaker at the induction ceremony of the Bong University Students Union (BUSU) on March 29, 2025.
At the occasion, Senator Moye, after presenting a cash donation of US$200, pledged to make available L$ 200, 000 to help BUSU’s leadership meet some of its needs.
