UL Resumes Classes Again

The University of Liberia (UL) Administration has announced that classes will resume today, Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 8:00 AM.

Members of the University of Liberia Faculty Association (ULFA) and the University of Liberia Staff Association (ULSA) unanimously agreed to return to normal academic activities following after several meetings involving the administration of UL, members of the UL Board of Trustees and the Government of Liberia.

According to the press release issued yesterday, the UL Administration has met a number of demands from ULFA, including the payment of part-time instructors.

“The payment of part-time instructors, which began a week ago, has significantly progressed, with many part-time instructors acknowledging that they have received payment alerts that funds have been deposited into their personal accounts,” the release stated.

Meanwhile, the UL Administration has set up a special joint committee comprising of members of ULSA, ULFA, and the UL Administration to review and address the issue of salary disparity among staff across the University employment.

In preparation for the reopening of the University, the UL Administration announced a two-day general clean-up exercise on its Capitol Hill and Fendell campuses.

In a related development, the release concluded that the UL Board of Trustees of the University of Liberia has elected a new code of officers.

Those elected to leadership include Senator Numene Bartekwa, Chairperson; Rev. Charles Boayue, Co-chair; Martin Pennie, Secretary, and Dixon Seboe, Treasurer.
