UL Announces New Academic Semester

The University of Liberia has released calendar of events for first semester 2022/2023 academic year.
Speaking to journalists at the University of Liberia Capitol Hill Campus, UL president Julius Nelson announced that registration for the upcoming semester will begin on June 19 and ends on July 8, while classes will officially commence on June 26.


According to him, the semester which will run for July to September is intended to give faculties and students exercise their civil right to participate in the upcoming elections.


He added that over five thousand successful candidates of the 2022 entrance with appropriate requirements will join the over twenty-two thousand students at the University during the upcoming semester.


Dr. Nelson at the same time announced phase two of renovation works at the University’s campuses, noting that such renovation is intended to improve access to quality education.


He stated that the electronic application for more than eight thousand candidates are being process by the Office of Enrollment Services, adding that those successfully scrutinized will start receiving admission through emails.


“Having completed Academic Year 2021/2022 in May 2023 and processed our wonderful graduates, through “Gods Doing” the focus is on the formal commencement of Academic Year 2022/2023 and all of the related processes that will ensure a smooth and timely conduct of the First Semester before the General and Presidential Elections in October 2023,” he said.


UL president added that on June 6, 2023, the Center for Testing and Evaluation, through UL Relations, released the schedule for the First Entrance and Placement Exam and Aptitude Test for the 2023 cycle.


“The exam and aptitude test will run from mid-July (for undergraduate) to early August (Graduate and Professional Schools). Registration for this years’ entrance, which began on Thursday, June 8, 2023, is being conducted completely online,” he said.


He emphasized that students as an important constituent of the University family, have rights that must be respected at every stage of the teaching and learning experience, in the same way they protect the rights of faculty, staff and the administration.


“Therefore, our task as the custodians/managers/administrators of this institution, is to follow the rules as fairly as possible, without fear and favor, whenever there is an issue that calls into question the integrity and image of our institution,” he said.
