UL Alumni Assoc. Holds Big Activities Monday

The Alumni Association of the University of Liberia across various countries including the United States of America (USA), Nigeria and Liberia will this next Monday, December 16, 2019 launch and break-ground for a multipurpose building in the tune of US$1.5 million for the University of Liberia.
The building which will serve as a generating arm for the university, groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the Fendell Campus by 9:30 A.M as Minister Nathaniel McGill is expected to be the groundbreaker for the project, while the official launching and fundraising program will be at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town by 3:00 P.M with the visitor of the University, President George M. Weah is expected to be the Chief Launcher of the day.
Making the disclosure at the INQUIRER Newspaper office in Monrovia yesterday, the president of the Alumni Association of the University of Liberia in the Americas (ULIBAAA), Melvin A. Howard noted that the project is a joint effort of all the Alumni’s from the University, adding that it will serve as an income generating arm for the UL that will enable the UL run its operation from the forms generated for the building.
Mr. Howard said that the multipurpose building which construction work is expected to last for the next 5 years will host a gymnasium of ten-thousand -person capacity that will be built up to an international standard to be rented-up, a conference room of two-three with the capacity of 100 persons per room, offices, mini-clinic, and cafeteria among others.
He added that the building is not just for money making, but for both faculty and students to have a conducive learning environment, stressing that there will exist a good and furnished students’ center, mini-library and minicomputer room for research.
“We as alumni’s of the great University want to help the UL to be in path with the 21 century and part of the rebuilding process of our beloved country, as we do not have to wait to be in government before contributing to the rebuilding process of the country, while we from the USA have now raised over 50,000 US$ and anticipating more at the end of next year for the project,” Mr. Howard averred.
Meanwhile, Mr. Howard has said as part of their contribution towards the rebranding of the UL, the ULIBAAA of recent, prior to the 100 centennial ceremony, gave the UL a modern musical band set and sporting materials in the tune of US$25,000 as a contribution to jump-start the process.
