In a move to bolster bilateral relations, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, welcomed Her Excellency Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia, for high-level discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting, held in Abu Dhabi, focused on deepening diplomatic, economic, and security ties while addressing pressing global and regional issues. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, stability, and multilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on security collaboration and Liberia’s ongoing efforts in national and regional peacekeeping initiatives.
During the talks, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed the UAE’s strong support for Liberia’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to enhancing Liberia’s role in global diplomacy and governance.
Discussions also explored avenues for greater economic engagement, with both sides identifying key sectors for collaboration, including trade, investment, energy, infrastructure development, and education. The UAE emphasized its interest in supporting Liberia’s sustainable growth efforts, particularly in renewable energy, technology, and capacity-building initiatives.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed highlighted the UAE’s eagerness to expand partnerships, noting that Liberia’s economic potential aligns with the UAE’s global investment strategy. He praised the growing relationship between the two nations and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in key sectors that drive innovation and sustainable development.
Foreign Minister Nyanti, in turn, expressed Liberia’s appreciation for the UAE’s continued support, commending the nation’s leadership in economic diversification and international partnerships. She reaffirmed Liberia’s readiness to engage in meaningful collaboration with the UAE, particularly in areas that align with Liberia’s national development agenda.
Accompanying Minister Nyanti were key Liberian officials, including the National Security Advisor to the President, Cllr. Samuel Kofi Woods, and Presidential Advisor on National Defense, (Rtd) Gen. Daniel Ziankahn, further underlining the strategic importance of the discussions.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about the future of UAE-Liberia relations, emphasizing the importance of ongoing dialogue and high-level engagement to foster enduring partnerships. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening diplomatic ties and advancing mutually beneficial initiatives between the two nations.
