In a devastating incident that has shocked the country, a fatal fire yesterday, broke out and engulfed a residential property, claiming the lives of five family members.
The incident that occurred in Caldwell, New Georgia, during the early hours of Monday morning, claimed the life of the mother of the famous late Angel Togba, who died few years ago.
Others who that died were two grandchildren and two of the late Angel Togba’s mother’s other children, while two survived and are currently in critical conditions.
Even though the actual cause of the fire is yet to be established, some residents attributed the cause of the fire to have been triggered by an electrical malfunction, which rapidly engulfed the house, leaving the inhabitants trapped and helpless.
The victims, according to the eyewitness, were unable to escape the inferno that quickly engulfed their home, despite the efforts by some neighbors who were awakened by the sound of the flames and desperate cries for help.
Following the incident, members of the Liberia National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), and LNP, who came on the scene after, expressed their condolences to the bereaved family and the community.
They also assured the public that a comprehensive assessment will be conducted to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, the loss of such a young family has left the community devastated, with friends, neighbors, and relatives gathering at the site to mourn the tragic loss.
The concerned citizens are calling on the Liberian Red Cross Society and other humanitarian organizations to come to the aid of the survivors of the fire.
Furthermore, in the wake of the devastating incident, the community has come together, offering their support and prayers for the grieving family.
