As the National County Sports Meet preparation activities gear up in different parts of Liberia, the head coach of Sinoe County football team, Bra Dixion, has expressed heavy interest and confidence of winning the title for his county at all cost this season.
Coach Dixion emphasized that his people far in the southeastern region are thirsty for the trophy that they have no remembrance of celebrating for several decades despite making appearance at the quarter final of the competition two consecutive times under his watch.
He said, the time is now that the citizens of Sinoe County be assured that their football team will go to the competition with better approach and determination to restore the dignity of football which was once played in the county before their era diminished at the level of the county meet.
Appearing on one of the weekend’s radio programs aired across Monrovia, the tactician who is a CAF license ‘B’ holder, intimated that his preparation activities launched more than a month ago is gradually achieving the motives of recruiting players that will deliver the task to making history for the county once again.
“Well, Sinoe way back used to be called the Brazil of Liberia in football, but we have not been able to get the feelings of celebrating the county meet trophy for a very long time. I can say to all sons and daughters of Sinoe now, that it is our time to get this trophy. We are preparing and will be there to get the job done for our county,” he said.
He further narrated that the historicity of Sinoe as one of the founding counties of Liberia have challenged them to boost more attention in building a team that will end the deadlock of the none achievement, they have been faced with in the nation’s biggest sporting festival.
According to him, as a traditional way of preparing for the competition in Sinoe, the district leagues have been held to give opportunity to local based players resident in the county to justify their inclusion in the team.
Further to that, he added thar players within the county are constantly engaged in the county level training in Greenville while a Monrovia based training session is being conducted at the D. Tweh playing pitch in New Kru town.
“We are training in the county with players that were scouted during the district league and other county sport activities. At the same time, we have another session ongoing in Monrovia to have players outside justifying their inclusion. We will merge selected players from Monrovia with the selected players from the county to do the final listing that will be one of the very best this year,” Coach Dixion explained.
In terms of support from local authorities, the county head coach intimated that their officials seem to be supportive of his plans as the team is committed to pushing them to success.
The backings from the steering committee also serve as a motivation for his high confidence of claiming to title that is attracted to every county.
Sinoe County has long been named as host of group C in the upcoming edition of the National County Sports Meet.
They will play host to Lofa, River Cess and Gbarpolu counties in the group stage of the competition.
