“This Is A Weah Generation” …CDC Poised For Reelection

 By Precious D. Freeman

President George Weah who has begun officially campaigning for re-election has termed the 21st century generation as the ‘Weah generation.’

“Give us more chances so we can leave a legacy; there is no development the opposition can do because it is impossible,” that has been the President’s message since the opening of the national campaign on August 5.

As the heat of campaign blows across the country, with major political activities ongoing, leading up to the highly anticipated October 10 elections, the standard bearer of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) professed himself as the future of Liberia.

Kicking off the official campaign for his second term presidential bid, President Weah said no leader can be compared with him because the citizens can attest to the development he and his team have carried on for the past few years.

During a campaign tour in district 7 and 8, President Weah told a score of followers that for over twelve years, when the past government was in power, they were not able to renovate the Executive Mansion, but rather, it was abandoned, adding that when he took power, in less than three years, he was able to solve that problem.

According to him, few years ago when he asked the Liberians to vote him, there were oppositions saying that his government did not know anything, but he told Liberians to try him in order to know what he is capable of doing.

“I have come back to say thank you because it is because of you people that I was able to get this position, and to those of them that were not taking me to be someone capable, they can also attest to the lots of development that I have done,” he said boastfully.

“For the past few years that I have been in power, I was able to provide stable electricity, free tuition policy in the University of Liberia, paid WASSCE fee for 12th graders, carry on road connectivity and other infrastructures, among others,” he said.

President Weah bragged that the past regime shifted blame on the Ebola crisis pandemic, which hindered them from carrying out many developments, adding that during his regime, the country also experienced Covid-19 pandemic, but he was able to make sure things were okay, especially providing enough food for consumption.

“Those of them that are calling themselves rescue, what are they really coming to rescue? What are they coming to fix when we have already fixed everything? We have electricity, and a good Liberia, so I have come to you to say I am your future,” he said.

He maintained that his supporters should not listen to any irrelevant or empty promises from the oppositions, because his government has already done 95% percent of it.

Meanwhile, President Weah reminded his supporters that he is number 18 on the ballot paper for the Weah-Taylor Campaign.

According to him, he is encouraging the citizens to not just vote for him alone but should rather vote for his people because they are team.

“If you vote for me alone and do not vote for others, there will be lots of challenges in approving lots of developments that I will want to carry out,” he said.
