Mark Morris, a 15-year old teenager, who is a victim of the demolition exercise in Catholic Community in Congo Town is appealing to the government to intervene for widows and the less privilege who were affected by the massive properties destruction.

During an interview yesterday, Mark expressed grave concern about the survivability of widows, less privilege and single parents who had struggled over the years to have those homes built.

Speaking in a sorrowful tone, he said some of the victims who were in said situation may encounter pressure, depression and heartbreak failure, or their lives might even be cut short if there is no quick intervention.

Explaining further he mentioned that his parent’s house was destroyed too, but he is concerned about the widows because they went through lots of struggle to get those beautiful buildings erected which were broken down within a day.

“What if they don’t have anywhere to go, especially this type of time that the economy is very troubling; what if they don’t have savings because majority of Liberians lives from hand-to-mouth,” he asked in tears.

He furthered appealed to the government to see reason in helping the needy, so that they all will be happy again as a family and continue their normal living.

It can be recalled that several homes and other valuable structures were early Wednesday morning demolished in district 10, Montserrado County leaving several persons including women and children homeless.

Guarded by heavily armed Police presence, victims with nothing else to do but to grieve in pain and shock wave whilst seeing their homes and structures in few seconds and minutes go down the surface under heavy police presence.

The decision came following a court’s eviction notice on Saturday March 30, 2024.

The court order, among other things, disclosed that the ruling of the case went in favor of one Stanton Gaye who is now according to the court ruling the legitimate owner of the land which stretches from the main road of the Catholic Community towards the big swamp and beach side.
