For the 3rd time in succession, Tebeh Football Academy has clinched the Liberia Football Association Under 15 Classic Academy League.
The title was confirmed for the academy last Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville City, after FC Zontche failed to honor a league fixture against them.
They were awarded three points and two goals, bringing their points tally to 58 from 20 league matches, and they are 7 points clear of second placed Ansu Football Academy, who also defeated Scottish Academy 2-0 on Saturday.
Following the confirmation of their title on Saturday, the club’s head coach, Christian Mend, attributed the team’s successes to the consistent contribution made to the team by the Chief Executive Officer, Trokon Robert.
He said the team has hugely been supported over the years by the former Director General of the Executive Protection Agency, by paying the tuition of players and other activities just to ensure they are at an appreciable level.
The grassroot sports developer stated that there are two parts of the Tebeh Football Academy- school and football, making it attracted to only players who are willing to go to school.
“Mr. Robert plans to see these players on the bigger stage in Europe and this is why he devoted his time and money to preparing them,” Mend narrated.
This season, in 20 league matches so far, Tebeh have scored 91 goals, as their dominance in every aspect of the league continues.
Their star player, Roland Kilima, has so far scored 32 goals, making him the highest goal scorer in the league.
Though Coach Mend attributed the team’s successes to the CEO of the Club, for the past three seasons, sports analyses and statistics have proven that the gaffer is the best grassroots coach in the country.
He built a free-scoring squad that scores a huge number of goals regularly. For example, some clubs did not honor many of their matches against Tebeh due to fear of conceding many goals.
