A group under the banner “The United Grand Gedeans for Sustainable Peace and Development (UGGSPD) has come in defense of Superintendent Kai Farley.
It is barely a week ago that some aggrieved residents of Grand Gedeh under the banner, “Grand Gedeh County Senior Citizens Grievance Committee; Congress for Democratic Change (CDC)” in two separate but 10-count petition addressed to Internal Affairs Minister, Varney Sirleaf and President George Weah, highlighted Superintendent Kai Farley’s deficits thereby warranting his dismissal.
But the opposing group condemned the recent communication reportedly forwarded to President Weah, through the Ministry of Internal Affairs which among other things, is calling for Superintendent Farley’s immediate dismissal.
The UGGSPD called on elders to avoid acts that have the penchant to undercut peace and stability in the county adding, “We the United Grand Gedeans for Sustainable Peace and Development call on the senior citizens’ committee to desist from undermining the peace, stability, and development of the county by extension in Liberia.”
In a press statement signed by Joseph Wahblo, and approved by Gibson Tarpeh; representing the eight administrative districts in Grand Gedeh dismissed the recent claims made against Supt. Farley.
The group asserted that the group of elders under the banner of senior citizens of Grand Gedeh wrote a communication to the Superintendent with invectives and demanded the report on the affairs of the county.
“Yielding to their calls not knowing the motive, Superintendent Farley invited the aggrieved citizens along with the CSOs, the Religious leaders and the press to dialogue on local and national concerns raised. Unfortunately, the elders deliberately refused to turn out without giving any tangible reason (s)” the UGGSPD stated.
“After failing to adhere to the invite, on April 6, 2022, the same group held a press conference at the residence of “one failed politician” and a retired instructor at the Grand Gedeh County Community College demanding the immediate dismissal of Supt. Farley contrary to reports by critics that there is no project done under Superintendent Farley,” the release said.
The opposing group recounted Farley’s leadership achievement as the opening of major allies in Zwedru City, and embarked on farm-to-market road projects, constructed Zwedru to Niao Bawaydee roads, Zleh Town to Gbarzon Quebo road, Zwedru to Konobo Ziah Town road, and also named international roads including, Biah Toe Town road as well as the border connecting Liberia and Ivory Coast, Zwedru to Garley Town Boarder, connecting Liberia and Ivory Coast which is ongoing, President Weah has completed 100 housing units including Kpelleh Viillage, Tuzon Junction, Gbargbo Town and Pelizon Communities and others.
The release also named the ongoing construction of the two hundred housing Units, of which 70 is completed in PTP Refugee Camp; the modern Town Hall completed and dedicated in Toffoi Town, Kanneh Clan with the ongoing construction of Dr. Samuel K. Doe 80 bedroom-referral hospital in Zwedru. The reconditioning of Zwedru Central Market is completed and pending dedication.
“In view of the aftermath, having displaced countless projects undertaken by Supt. Farley, we the United Grand Gedeans for Sustainable Peace and Development are pleased to inform that whatever that was forwarded to Minister Varney Sirleaf through the President is false and misleading,” the group countered.
