Superintendent Kou Gono over the weekend held a dinner with some zogoes, drugs users and abusers in Ganta, Nimba County.
Introducing the program, Mayor Samuel Hadt said the event was organized by Superintendent Gono to celebrate July 26, 2024 independence specifically with drugs users, zogoes and its abusers in the county.
According to Mayor Hardt, the program was designed to celebrate the holiday with the zogoes to advise them to do away with smoking of marijuana, heroin and cocaine, couple with engaging in other criminal related activities across the county.
“We called you here today to have a dinner with Superintendent Gono as a sign of appealing with you to leave the street and drugs,” the Ganta Mayor said.
Superintendent Gono said the gathering was part of President Joseph Boakai’s rescue agenda to fight drugs and transform the youth to becoming future leaders.
“This program intends to get your view on what your want the government to do so that you will leave the street,” Superintendent Gono stated.
According Superintendent Gono, from Ganta, the program will be extended to the Sanniquellie prison to speak with the inmates.
The LDEA Commander, Abraham Payne, said the government’s mandate is to stop drugs increment across the country pointing out, “This engagement is also designed as a warning for you to leave the street and go back home to your family.”
“We will not relent if we arrest you in any ghetto again; we will send you to court for prosecution,” LDEA Payne lamented.
Speaking on behalf of zogoes identified as ‘Take it by force,’ he thanked Superintendent Gono and staff for the program said, “Mother we held what all you says; we will try to leave the drugs and the street,”
