Students Threaten To Disrupt Barclayville Central High, But…

Students of the Barclayville Central High School in Grand Kru County have threatened to disrupt normal academic activities.
According to the students, the teachers are in the constant habit of staying away from the classrooms, but the principal of the school rubbished the claim.
According to the students, teachers boycott classes without any reason, which is impeding their learning, mainly with the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) that is due in May.
The students said, among many things, that because of the absence of teachers at the school without any reason, they are far behind in covering the prescribed curriculum before writing the WASSCE this year.
But Principal Francis Wesseh, though agreeing with the students’ concerns, stated that only two teachers are sitting home for now without providing any reason.
Wesseh told the state-owned broadcaster (ELBC) denied the students’ claims that it is due to absentee teachers in classrooms that is impeding their preparation ahead of the WASSCE.
