Street Vendors for Better Liberia (SVBL), a body made up of street sellers and traders, will this Thursday, August 24, launch a nationwide recruitment and membership drive, aimed at broadening the organization.
For this, an indoor ceremony shall witness various speakers and will be held within the Paynesville belt, following a parade in the principal street of Paynesville. The program shall bring together scores of invitees from both the private and public sectors.
Mr. Joseph Tamba Korfeh, President of the body, said the intent is to help commoners, mainly those who are street sellers and traders in Monrovia and other parts of the country, to have a sense of belonging as a collective.
He said the organization shall seek the wellbeing and promote businesses that are owned or belong to sellers and traders, or stores and shops who do not have the opportunity to improve them.
Korfeh noted that when the organization is formally launched and operational, it shall impact the lives of its members, in form of loans from reputable banks in the country, as a means of empowerment.
He said at the moment the body has over 1,000 bonafide members who are working hard for realization of the goal and objectives, but the membership shall bring in more people into the Street Vendors for Better Liberia.
However, Korfeh indicated that SVBL has membership in the diaspora and that of the 15 counties, but the need to recruit more cannot be overemphasized, as it would make the organization more viable and stronger in the country.
He pointed out that their objective is that Liberia should be country that everyone is a part of and can enjoy the peaceful movement, and economically participate in its wellbeing, stating, “We are commoners can make Liberia better.
