A renowned Liberian educator and president Emeritus of the Stella Maris Polytechnic University, Sister Mary Laurene Browne, has officially launched the Kyne’s Hands Foundation (KHF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the health, rights, and empowerment of underprivileged youths, particularly vulnerable girls, across Liberia.
The grand launch, held at the Foundation’s headquarters in Bardnersville, Bend and Stop Community, was attended by students, human rights activists, government representatives, educators, and disadvantaged youths.
The day’s festivities included a lively parade featuring a musical band and cultural performances, fostering camaraderie among attendees.
In her keynote address, Sister Mary Laurene Browne, commended the Foundation’s Founder and Executive Director, Cynthia Towejue Kyne-Kengo, for her vision and determination to address the challenges being faced by Liberia’s most vulnerable communities.
“The Founder of this institution has a dream and ambition to transform the lives of ordinary Liberians. Inspired by her mother’s difficult childhood, she has created an organization that seeks to care for the well-being of others,” Sister Mary Laurene said.
She stressed the importance of collective support for such initiatives, noting, “No matter how rich a government is, it cannot meet every need of its citizens. The Holy Spirit inspires individuals to create solutions like this foundation.”
Founded in 2021, the Kyne’s Hands Foundation aims to provide health and educational support to vulnerable children while advocating for women’s empowerment and the economic stability of caregivers.
The Foundation’s work is fueled by partnerships with donors, government agencies, and community groups.
Speaking at the event, Cynthia Towejue Kyne-Kengo shared the personal story that inspired her to establish the organization.
Her mother endured significant mistreatment between the ages of five and ten, an experience that motivated Kyne-Kengo to ensure that no Liberian youth, especially girls, faces similar hardships.
“Since our establishment, we have made remarkable progress in building strategic partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders to amplify our impact,” she said.
“Today, we officially launch this foundation to provide essential support for the health, well-being, and education of less fortunate youths across Liberia.”
The Foundation has already gained recognition for its efforts to uplift vulnerable communities and plans to expand its reach by fostering partnerships with local and international entities.
Kyne-Kengo expressed gratitude to those who have supported the Foundation’s journey and called for continued collaboration to achieve its goals.
Kyne’s Hands Foundation stands as a testament to the power of compassion and the resilience of those determined to create a brighter future for Liberia’s most vulnerable.
