Sierra Leonean Club Continues Losing Streak In Liberia Friendlies

By S. Siapha Mulbah

Fredo Football Club of Sierra Leone continues to miss out on victory throughout their preseason tour in Liberia.
The visiting team, mainly here to participate in the Paynesville Cup, has played several friendly matches without good results, since their arrival on July 28, 2023.

The team, reportedly a non-division club under Sierra Leone Football Association, has faced off against Paynesville Football Club, Heaven Eleven, and Black Man Warriors, but so far, have not been able to get a positive result.

It is clear that Fredo FC will have a lot of work to do to correct the lapses in her system before going into the new league season in their country. Failure on the part of management to have some structural reforms could mean no progress for them.

The Freetown Guests lost to Paynesville FC on Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Practice Pitch, in their first friendly away to Liberia. Heaven Eleven also collected all three points from the foreign side in the first match of the Paynesville Cup, with a 2-0 victory.
Black Man Warriors, on Thursday morning, easily defeated Fredo FC 5-0 in another pre-season friendly at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.

The Warriors lost to Global Pharma 1-0 in their previous friendly, but a 5-0 mauling of the Sierra Leonean side could nurse that injury.
Coach Abraham Sese and his black army have been training for months, in a series of friendlies, ahead of their August trip to Azerbaijan.
A Marcus Kumeh brace, with a goal each from Jah Nyanforh, Luther Tarr, and Elijah Reeves, wreaked the havoc.

Fredo FC is still in Liberia for the Paynesville Cup, a pre-season tournament, and have played three games.
Despite the defeats, Fredo FC see the friendlies as a means of building a strong relationship with clubs in Liberia and have seen such in Black Man Warriors and others, something they have been looking for.
Fredo FC chairman, Bass Sheku Kamara, told the club that their being in Liberia was for a purpose, and according to him, that has been achieved.

Both clubs will enter into a partnership where players will be transferred between the two clubs effortlessly.
Meanwhile, the Warriors’ management has appreciated the club and presented a cash prize of 500 USD to their West African neighbors.
