Sheffield United Targeting Lone Star Defender Sampson Dweh For Summer Move?

Sheffield United are reportedly eyeing a move for Viktoria Plzen defender Sampson Dweh, provided they secure promotion to the Premier League this season.
According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, the Blades have been closely monitoring Dweh’s performances in the Czech top-flight and the UEFA Europa League, where he has impressed for Plzen.
Currently sitting third in the Championship, Chris Wilder’s side is pushing for a return to the top-flight at the first time of asking. Their bid for promotion received a fresh challenge after Burnley’s 2-0 victory over Swansea City, which saw them reclaim second place. However, Sheffield United will be looking to strengthen their position with a crucial win in Steel City derby against Sheffield Wednesday.
Dweh, 24, initially joined Plzen on loan before making his move permanent last summer. He has since featured in 41 games across all competitions, scoring four league goals and making 15 Europa League appearances.
Sheffield United’s defensive options have been limited, with Rob Holding only at the club on loan from Crystal Palace, leaving Rhys Norrington-Davies and Jack Robinson as the only other senior choices. Both defenders struggled in the Premier League during United’s previous stint in the top-flight, making defensive reinforcements a priority for Wilder.
While Dweh remains an unknown quantity in English football, Sheffield United see him as a potential upgrade and a smart investment as they prepare for a possible return to the Premier League.
A move for the Liberian center-back will likely hinge on the club’s ability to secure promotion, with the Blades eager to bolster their squad for the challenges of top-flight football.
