The West Point Women for Health and Development Organization (WPWHDO) has recently donated packaging and labeling items to 30 women in order to add more value to their goods.
Some of the items given to the beneficiaries included needles, ribbons, threads, gun glue, packaging plastics, stamp, among others.
The program which was supported by Kvinna till Kvinna and the Embassy of Great Britain brought together various communities as well as members of organizations who are beneficiaries.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Director of WPWHDO, Nelly Cooper, explained that the beneficiaries were trained few months ago in tie and dye and soap making and the organization decided to add more value to their goods by teaching them on how to better package and label the finished products.
According to her, the organization decided to carry on this initiative because most Liberians are idle and or do not have skills; so with these skills, will help to sustain themselves and their families and also be able to contribute to some development in the country.
Madam Cooper disclosed that the beneficiaries are now earning their own money without waiting on their partners to provide for them and encouraged the women to be serious and maintain what they have been taught.
Speaking further, the trainer encouraged the 30 beneficiaries of the packaging and labeling class not to just dash the knowledge learnt along the way side but that they use whatever learnt in order to add value to their goods to attract customers.
Meanwhile, the participants expressed their gratitude for the skills taught them and promised to use it for the intended purpose while some of them explained that it is now from the tie and dye including other skills learned from WPWHDO that they are able to start catering to their needs without being a liability on their partners
