Several Public Schools’ Principals Suspended In Nimba

The Ministry of Education’s local office in Nimba County has suspended several principals at various public schools with immediate effect.
Speaking to the Inquirer in Saclepea via mobile phone, Principal David Yeeyea, of the Johnny Voker High School, disclosed that he was suspended for time indefinite by the County Education officer(CEO) Francis Legay.
According to Principal Yeeyea, CEO Legay suspended him for time indefinite for hosting political program on the campus.
“CEO Legay suspended me for time indefinite. I regretted the situation but, MOE’s handbook states that the first offence is punishable by fine,” Principal David Yeeyea pointed out .
Recently, the Citizen Movement for Change(CMC) , a newly launched political party of Rep. Musa Bility, used the premises of the Johnny Voker High School during the candidature induction of Mack Gblinwon to contest on the party’s ticket in the pending senatorial by-election.
Since the beginning of February 2025, the Ministry of Education’s office in Nimba has suspended three public school principals for various reasons, but local education officials have remained tight-lipped on releasing the releasing the names of the affected personnel along with their various schools.
During a normal courage at the Ministry of Education’s office in Sanniquellie , a staff in the employ of the local education house confirmed the immediate suspension of the principal of the Martha Tubman Elementary School in Sanniquellie, Ericson Tokpah.
It was further confirmed that the principal of the Gbenelay Public School, Aaron Karnwea has also been hit by suspension. Reasons for their suspension remain undisclosed by local educational authorities.
When contacted the resident DEO office in Sanniquellie. When the Inquirer contacted the Administrative Assistant to the DEO in Sanniquellie, he confirmed the suspension of the Martha Tubman Elementary School’s principal, Ericson Tokpah and further referred the paper to the office of CEO Legay.
“Gbenelay Public School is situated in Twa-River Education District, so you can contact DEO James L. Barkerkor , of that education district for details,” the DEO’s administrative assistant in Sanniquellie revealed .
When contacted DEO James Barkerkor of the Twa-River confirmed the suspension of the principal of the Gbenelay Public School, Aaron Karnwea.
Meanwhile, DEO Barkerkor intimated that the issue has been settled, with no further details. He how disclosed that his school district is comprised of 45 public schools.
When this paper contacted CEO Francis Legay for comments, he confirmed the suspension of the principal of the Johnny Voker Senior High School in Saclepea, David Yeeyea but denied the alleged suspension of principals Ericson Tokpah and Aaron Karnwea.
