Senate Confirms Jarlawah Tonpo As Deputy Minister For Public Affairs

The Liberian Senate yesterday constituted itself into a Committee of the Whole during its 44th day sitting, 4th session and unanimously confirmed Mr. Jarlawah A. Tonpo as Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICAT).
Mr. Tonpo who replaces Eugene Fahngon who was relieved off duties on Wednesday night, served as the Director of Press at the Liberian Senate from 2011 to 2021 having obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications, a Master’s Degree in International Relations (University of Liberia) and is a Master’s candidate in Public Administration at the same University.
He had been working at the Legislature for 17 years where he served as Media Consultant from 2004 to 2005 during the NTLA and as Deputy Director of Press and Public Affairs at the Liberian Senate from 2006 to 2011.
President George Manneh Weah nominated Ambassador Tonpo as Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs at the MICAT early Thursday, June 24, 2021.
