Senate Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence led a high-level delegation to Edina City, where she joined an Irish Ministerial team headed by Minister Neale Richmond.
The joint visit spotlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen women’s roles in governance and peacebuilding across Liberia.
The officials toured the Edina Peace Hut, a cornerstone of the Transformative Leadership Project.
The initiative, backed by the Embassy of Ireland and UN Women Liberia, is being implemented by the Women’s NGOs Secretariat of Liberia and Sister Aid Liberia Inc.
It seeks to amplify women’s leadership, reshape societal perceptions, and reduce electoral violence in Grand Bassa County.
Minister Richmond underscored the importance of male allies in supporting women’s political inclusion. “Inclusive governance is not only a women’s issue, it requires all of us,” he said, stressing the value of male champions in driving gender equality in leadership and peace efforts.
Senator Karnga-Lawrence applauded the achievements of local women who have emerged as national leaders through these programs.
She committed to mentoring the next generation of female leaders, noting that strategic succession planning is essential for sustaining progress.
“We must ensure women are not just at the table, but fully equipped to lead from it,” she said.
The visit highlighted a growing partnership between Liberia and Ireland in promoting women’s rights and affirmed a shared vision of a society where women’s voices shape policy, peace, and progress.
