Seesaw Battle Over NPP’S Chairmanship …As Kparkillen’s Leadership Threatens Coalition

The new leadership of the National Patriotic Party under the chairmanship of Cllr. Stanley S. Kparkillen has threatened to vehemently resist any attempt by the Coalition leadership to impose Senator James P. Biney on the party as chairperson.
The leadership of Kparkillen who was elected by the majority of the 638 presumed ‘legal’ delegates from the 15 counties said after being voted out by overwhelming majority of delegates at the party’s 7th Biennial Convention held on October 7, 2022 at the Paynesville Town Hall, said Biney is no longer chairperson of the party.
In a release issued at the party’s national headquarters in Congo Town adjacent the German Embassy, the party expressed regrets and disappointment at attempt by the Coalition leadership to ignore and brush aside the decision of the majority block and rule out any possibility of a re-run of the convention but to impose Biney as Chairperson until after the pending 2023 presidential and legislative elections with the motive of executing their political plans to unseat the Standard Bearer of the National of the Patriotic which plan can only be accomplished by Senator Biney and cohorts.
Meanwhile, the party considers that such move grossly undermines the spirit and intent of the coalition agreement which provides that each constituent party shall maintain their separate identity and be allowed to internally and independently govern itself as a full fledge political party consistent with its By-laws and constitution.
The party therefore cautions the other two constituent parties’, the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) and the Liberia People Democratic party (LPDP) to immediately desist from interfering with the internal affairs of the NPP which undermines its unity and allow the will of the partisans to prevail by respecting their decision as to who leads them.
The NPP new leadership reassures its commitment to the Coalition’s agreement and the reelection of President George Manneh Weah and Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor 2023 Ticket.
