Robert Teah Finally Gets Party’s Ticket to Contest on

By Precious D Freeman

The Liberian People’s Party of Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe has officially projected representative candidate, Robert Teah, to the citizens of the Borough of New Kru Town as the face of its ticket.

By the pronouncement, Mr. Teah, who recently resigned from the opposition Unity Party because of his defeat in the party’s consensus building process, will now contest on the LPP ticket for the Montserrado County Electoral District 16 Representative seat.

Speaking at the endorsement ceremony, LPP’s National Vice Chairperson for Operations, Stephen Ricks, described Mr. Teah as a man of integrity, trust, and accountability.

He admonished residents of the district to make wise decision in the October 10, 2023 elections by ensuring that Robert Teah is elected to the representative seat.

Mr. Ricks, at the same time, bragged that it was through the advocacy of the Liberian People’s Party for multiparty system, the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change and all opposition parties are now freely chanting political slogans in the name of their parties.

He further noted that the Borough of New Kru Town and to a large extent, District 16, has been the political base and property of the LPP and it will be recaptured on October 10 through its representative candidate, Robert Teah.

Also during the program, the LPP representative candidate was petitioned by the people of Montserrado County Electoral District 16.

Reading the petition statement, the Chair for the Friends of Robert B. Teah, Reverend Andrew S. Fayiah, said that Mr. Teah has demonstrated to all that he is most credible, a man of integrity, and a development-oriented leader.

According to him, the representative candidate has always contributed to the education of young people from 2003 to present.

The cleric disclosed that Mr. Teah has provided over  L$ 35,000 for grade school students, including the training of teachers across the district, noting that Robert Teah has championed and promoted good education, as evident in the establishment of the Borough Teachers Association, to help the national government in the regulation of high schools operating in the area.

“For over 15 years, this man advocated for the welfare of citizens, provided job opportunities, including placing people on private and public payrolls, and as such, he is the best person to deliver the district from bad governance and clean the mess created by incumbent Representative, Dixon Seboe, and he is the most accessible candidate and loved by the people,” Rev. Fayiah averred.

Meanwhile, receiving the petition, Mr. Robert Teah said the citizens, through their actions, have demonstrated that he is the next lawmaker of the district.

He said the Unity Party made a great mistake to have denied him its ticket for Bishop Peter Manasseh Conto whom he described as a “Johnny just come” partisan.

Mr. Teah has however assured the Liberian People’s Party of producing the next representative of District 16 through him.

He also called on the citizens to vote to solve their drainage problem, promote youth and women employment, have a technical college for the people and have better representation, oversight and lawmaking at the Legislature.

Hundreds of citizens trooped their way to the Multipurpose Youth Center (Town hall) and eagerly contributed in finance and in kind for the election of Mr. Teah.

The program was embedded with a “Dollar Rally” to allow citizens and key stakeholders make contributions to the representative bid of the LPP representative candidate.
