The Justice in Chamber, Yusuf Kaba, has halted all further actions and activities in what it termed as the ‘purported’ supplementary payroll investigation involving defendants Samuel Tweah, Nyenatee Tuan and Stanley Ford, thereby giving them relief until a conference is concluded.
Amidst the conference scheduled for next week, September 4, 2024, the Supreme Court’s Chamber Justice Kaba granted the petitioners’ petition for an alternative writ thereby placing stay order on all proceedings relative to the Financial Intelligence Agency’s (FIA) high-profile L$6 million case.
Cllr. Arthur Johnson, representing the officials in the CDC-led government, filed a petition for a writ of prohibition before the Supreme Court and the Justice granted the petition with the wisdom that the government’s ongoing actions against the ex-officials could jeopardize future security operations and pose significant risks to state security.
The case revolves around charges of economic sabotage and theft linked to an alleged unauthorized and illegal transfers totaling over L$1 billion and US$500,000.
The former Solicitor General Tuan and former Security Advisor Karmoh, were previously detained at the Monrovia Central Prison after the Monrovia City Court denied their lawyer’s petition for recognizance but were later released on bail as the case was transferred to Criminal Court ‘A’.
The Chamber Justice however ordered the government/respondents to stop spreading misinformation about the purported supplementary payroll intended to belittle, demean and create a false and misleading information about corruption allegation involving the three former government officials.
