An NGO under the banner Save More Kids (SMK) and its partners are expected to officially break ground for the construction of the Panta- Guinea border road on today in in Garmu Town, Panta District 4, Bong County.
The Save More Kids, Inc, (SMK) launched Run Liberia Half Marathon in Panta District of Liberia was intended to help residents realize the dream of rebuilding their ancient farm-to-market road in the county.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with this paper ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony, the Executive Director of Save More Kids, Quanuquanei A. Karmue said every year, thousands of pregnant women face life-threatening trauma because of the deplorable conditions of the road.
“Over the past three years, 32 villages have come together to raise funds for the rebuilding of this essential 19-mile road connecting all 32 villages from Monrovia to Guinea. We’ve held two half marathons attracting thousands of participants marching in joyful unity and solidarity for development in Bong County,” he added.
He revealed that these villagers have generously contributed funding to the project which has demonstrated ownership and leadership for their development. Meanwhile, the Save More Kids Executive Director said the keynote speaker for the pending event will be the International Development, and Humanitarian Expertm Sara Beysolow Nyanti.
Her over 20 years of work in international development includes disease prevention and control, leading multi-sectoral development Initiatives, heading UNICEF’s largest operations in Yemen, setting up hundreds of millions dollar cash unit, and then representing the UN Secretary-General as the head of the international development agenda for nation-building In Nepal and now South Sudan.
She has extensive experience in community and national development and building systems.
Mr. Kermue said Madam Nyanti has described the SMK development projects in Panta district, as “a miracle in the bush”
