Rep. Nathaniel N. Bahway has donated an ambulance to Trehn, District 1 of Grand Kru County to enhance the transportation of patients for timely treatment at health facilities in the county.
Moreover, Rep. Bahway explained that the donation of the ambulance comes as part of his oversight responsibilities as the District 1 Representative to the people of the district.
The Grand Kru lawmaker made this assertion during the presentation of the ambulance to the county leadership, led by County Superintendent Madam Antoinette Wowlee Nimely, on March 28, 2025, in Weteken, Grand Kru County.
In his remarks at the donation event, Rep. Bahway stated that this contribution serves as a form of compensation to the district for electing him to a second term as their representative.
According to the lawmaker, the donation of the ambulance is part of his many contributions to the district and its people.
He highlighted other contributions, including the donation of roofing sheets to churches, the construction of a modern radio station, and the donation of a sugar cane crushing machine, among others.
Furthermore, he raised concerns over several cases of women dying during childbirth due to the lack of ambulances to transport patients in a timely manner.
Meanwhile, Rep. Bahway explained that unborn children have died in their mothers’ wombs before an ambulance could arrive during emergency cases in Grand Kru District 1.
Superintendent Antoinette Wowlee Nimely stated that the county needs more ambulances to facilitate emergency operations and reduce deaths caused by delays in patient transportation.
Madam Superintendent noted that one ambulance cannot adequately serve the population of Grand Kru in delivering healthcare services to the residents.
The County Superintendent extended her sincere thanks and appreciation to Rep. Bahway for his kind gesture.
The County Health Officer (CHO), Learwellie P. Craig, recalled that the lawmaker had once promised to support the health sector, a promise he believes has now been fulfilled through this donation.
The County Health Officer (CHO) of Grand Kru expressed that receiving the ambulance is a testament to the representative’s commitment to his people. Learwellie P. Craig thanked Rep. Nathaniel N. Bahway for the donation, noting that this marks the first time a district has received an ambulance purchased by a representative.
