1st Lady Clar Marie Weah yesterday dedicated and opened to the public the newly refurbished Adult Emergency Room at the Redemption Hospital in New Kru Town.
As a mark of continuity to improve the healthcare delivery service for the benefit of Liberians, the emergency which will now serve a close to half a million of Liberia’s population was named in honor of Liberia 1st Lady Clar Weah.
The First Lady confessed that the people of New Kru Town and its environs have won the admiration of her heart and reminded them that the thrust of the Health care Pillar of the Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development must see the rapid development of health facilities across the country with access to quality care and service delivery for the population.
The Redemption Hospital is situated in a community with over 400, 000 inhabitants in addition to referrals that come from Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount and Bomi Counties therefore recognizing the need, Madam Weah stated, “This hospital is currently the largest government-run facility that offers absolutely free medical services to the public, a true Pro-poor adaptation.”
She lauded the hospital’s new Medical Director, Williametta S. Williams-Gibson, under whose leadership according to her, the determination was made that the condition of the facility was not so conducive and with her management team embarked on the renovation of various sections of the hospital, including the Emergency Room, (ER).
“Today, I am grateful to all of you, most especially all our doctors, nurses, specialists and all the support staff for the great sacrifices you continue to make for your nation and its people. Our nation continues to make firmer strides in the health care delivery area because of your dedication and commitment,” the first Lady acknowledged.
She also thanked the administrators and staff of the government hospital for the generosity of their collective thoughts to name the Redemption Hospital Adult Emergency Room in her honor adding, “This is such a great honor bestowed upon me and my family and on behalf of my husband, President George Manneh Weah, our children and all members of our family we say Thank you.”
