The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) has announced its upcoming 52nd General Assembly, scheduled for December 2024, following the successful completion of local leadership elections across the country.
This significant event will elect new national leaders, including a National President, three Regional Vice presidents, National Treasurer, and National Youth Representatives.
The recent elections, held in 91 branches across 15 counties, resulted in the elections of 578 individuals to various leadership roles, including Branch Coordinators and Youth Representatives.
Of those elected, 382 were males and 196 females, reflecting the LNRCS’s commitment to gender diversity and inclusion.
At the county level, 92 leaders were elected, achieving a representation of 57% males and 43% females in chapter’s leadership.
The elections were conducted through a transparent secret voting process, ensuring fairness and integrity throughout.
The new leaders embody diverse backgrounds, underscoring the organization’s commitment to inclusivity.
LNRCS Secretary-General, Gregory Blamoh, expressed pride in the newly elected leadership, emphasizing their potential to enhance the Red Cross’ humanitarian efforts at the local level.
“This new team is well-positioned to strengthen our capacity to deliver humanitarian action, and we are excited about the future,” he stated.
The General Assembly serves as the highest decision-making body of the LNRCS, convening every two years for mid-term reviews and every four years for national elections, as outlined in the organization’s 2018 Constitution.
Blamoh highlighted the importance of the upcoming assembly, stating, “This is an exciting moment for the Liberian Red Cross. It will not only elect new leadership but also shape the future of our organization as we continue to serve the people of Liberia with integrity and compassion.”
The LNRCS remains committed to enhancing its humanitarian mission while ensuring that its leadership structure embodies principles of integrity, transparency, and inclusivity.
