The Minister of Public Works, Roland Layfette Giddings, has conducted an inspection tour of several ongoing road projects in Montserrado County.
The visit aimed to assess progress and ensure adherence to project specifications.
The inspection covered major roadways, including Lakpazee Zoo Road, Chicken Soup Factory Road, Dixville Road, and Tweh Farm Junction-New Kru Town.
The team also reviewed work on VOA Road and evaluated a newly proposed detour designed to ease congestion along the Duala corridor by redirecting traffic behind the Beer Factory.
Minister Giddings expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects, commending contractors for their commitment to detail and quality work.
“It is encouraging to see the contractors sticking to the details, and this is manifesting in the practical work,” he remarked, underscoring the government’s resolve to ensure infrastructure projects meet required standards and deadlines.
Minister Giddings reaffirmed the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, emphasizing its role in driving economic growth and improving the quality of life for Liberians.
He acknowledged the concerns of some residents regarding temporary road closures and construction delays, assuring them that every effort is being made to minimize disruptions.
However, the Ministry of Public Works has assured the public of continued monitoring and engagement with contractors to guarantee timely project completion.
The road improvements are expected to significantly enhance connectivity and alleviate traffic congestion in some of Montserrado’s busiest areas.
The proposed Duala detour, in particular, is viewed as a strategic solution to longstanding bottlenecks that have disrupted traffic flow and economic activities.
The inspection tour provided an opportunity for the Ministry to engage with local communities and stakeholders, gathering feedback on the impact of ongoing projects.
In response to the project, residents and commuters have welcomed the initiative, anticipating smoother travel and improved business operations.
